There's usually a silver lining (see heater problem in March 31 post) and in this case it was that we stayed for several nights at the Caravan Club in the grounds of Tredegar House, Newport, the home of the Morgan family for half a millennium ( click here for more).


Highly recommended as a well preserved example of architecture through the centuries, the house is still a work in progress and will be in coming decades.  


More silver lining from our unplanned visit to Wales was that we caught up with Rosemarie's cousin Sue and her husband John.


Newport has seen more prosperous days;  evident from our 20km cycle that took in the remains of two historic engineering feats, the fourteen locks and the transporter bridge.  Photos below.
